Party advice needed please :)

Ok, so Im going to my friends party in two weeks time and Im still stuck over what I should wear with my dress.
First off, Im short so not that many things suit me but by sheer luck I found a dress that did. Its roughly down to my knees. Im not the best with fashion tbh and, as this is the first PROPER party Ive been to (as in not kid-ish) I have no real idea what goes with what! I really am desperate to look nice (its not something that I accomplish that often). I am going to wear tights, but which - clear or black? What heels, if any, go with each type of tights? Or should I go with flats?
Uber confused - help anyone?
Thanks if you do help :)

If you are wearing a dress why do you need to wear tights also? Do you mean pantie hose? What shape is the dress? What color? What size are you. We are not psychics here. We need some sort of visual to go by.

Ok, I need tights because my legs aren’t the best legs in the world. They’re pale and I kinda have little veins showing in the back of my calves, not everyone will notice them, I know, but to make myself more comfortable with it, Im covering them with tights. Im size 10. The dress is black and made to flatter the hour-glass figure. Its tighter round the chest and hips, rests nicely at the knee.
Sorry, but I don’t know how else I can describe it.

This sounds lovely, I’m excited for you! Your dress sounds stunning so I’d say keep it simple, don’t go mad with the accessories!

If you’re not too comfortable getting your pins out, tights will make you feel much happier. Personally I’m not a huge fan of “skin” tights although you can find some good ones that look quite natural. If you’re in the UK go to M&S, they should have ones out of the boxes that you can see before you buy them. Opaque black tights are really flattering and sound like they should go with your dress. You could even go for coloured tights, as long as they are an opaque, block colour (ie. not patterned!) and you limit the colour in the rest of your outfit.

As for shoes, heels can be flattering as they make your legs look longer but only wear them if you’re comfortable in them! If you’re not used to them (I’m guessing you’re quite young?) don’t go straight for the stilettos. Just wear flats if they’ll make you more comfortable or go for a pair of mid-height or kitten heels. It’s amazing how a pretty pair of heels can boost your confidence! Just practice walking in them first and invest in a set of Party Feet gel cushions. Keep them in your bag and whack them in your shoes when your feet start to hurt.

Just keep it simple and hold your head high and I’m sure you will look, and more importantly, FEEL gorgeous :) I used to work in a high street fashion shop. I was never that into following whatever trend was in the week, the best part was helping people find an outfit that suited their figure and personality and gave them confidence. If you need any more help just let me know! Have a great time at the party!
