“I Promise”
“You won’t hurt,”
Promised the girl,
To the knife,
As it left a bloody pearl,
She didn’t understand,
How blood shed,
Hurt less,
Than having him dead,
Rivers of red,
Of pain,
Unless someone notices,
She’s perfectly sane,
Each day,
She promises her knife,
“You won’t hurt,
Until I take my life,”
She plans,
Plots,
Too many choices,
Pick a straw, take lots,
On her day,
Of reckoning,
Her knife whispers,
Beckoning,
“I won’t hurt you,”
It calls,
And for her own lies,
She falls,
“I won’t take long,”
The knife says,
She believes it,
Tries not to make a mess,
She holds her knife,
Holds it tight,
Closes her eyes,
Shuts out the light,
“You’ll be with him soon,
I promise,”
The knife cuts,
A last kiss,
The girl dies,
Bliss.
Bliss hurts.
