You could take it literally? In that Christ was born just past three?

But I guess you could possibly say that three am is like the undecided area of night, not quite morning either?

I thought about that, but I haven’t heard of any traditions fixing the time of Christ’s birth.

Of course, there are so many traditions about Christmas that may have no validity, so “past three o’clock” may just be another one.
