Buy conditioners from salons and do ask for their advice, that’s the good stuff.

Make sure when you shampoo and condition your hair that afterwards you rinse with COLD water. And it’s better if you air-dry your hair, but if you do blow dry make sure to use cold air for awhile after drying.

If you straighten or curl your hair, use conditioners. Oh and do buy leave in conditioners those help too.

It’s much better to use a moisturizer that’s designed for hair: if you’re wetting your hair over and over, you’ll start to wash away the natural hair oils that keep it soft and healthy. Go to a hair salon or beauty supply store and get a good deep conditioner or at least a moisturizing shampoo. I know that stuff is more expensive, but it really does make a difference (grocery or drug store hair products aren’t pH balanced, so whatever moisturizing properties they may have are negated by teh acidic or basic nature of the product). …on a positive note though, most good-quality hair products are more concentrated than the cheap ones, so you’ll end up spending about the same amount for them.

Fyi: I have hair down to my waist and I really like Paul Mitchel products: the moisturizing shampoo and conditioner followed by the smoothing serum (applied to towel-dried hair) are A-mazing! …oh and if you need a little smoothing/shine after your hair is dry, smooth a little smoothing serum over it, or use John Frieda brilliant brunette shine serum (by the way, those shampoos/conditioners are NOT pH balanced, so if you can avoid them).

Good luck!

If your in a pinch and don’t have any moisturing conditioners, wet your hair, squeeze out excess water, and apply mayonaise. Yes, mayo. put over that a showerr cap. The heat from your scalp will help to penetrate the oils from the mayo and condition your hair. After 20min. the longer you leave on the better, shampoo hair. Never use hot water, use warm and rinse. No, wetting your hair everyday won’t be of benefit. Hair is not skin. When you can, go to walmart or somewhere and get aussie moistiurizing conditioner or any product as long as it says moisturing. Same principal, put on the conditioner to dampened hair, and cover with a shower cap. Leave on 20plus min. then rinse. do this 3x’s a week and keep getting trims. Avoid hot curling irons that simply fry the hair. Good luck :)
