Yea sounds like he doesnt care about what you believe in or anything. I’m a guy and honestly if my gf believe in animal testing and did the exact things you did even though I did not believe the same way as she does. I would still respect her beliefs and I would have never went off like he did on you (its just wrong)

I’m in agreement with Xeno on this one. You need to find a better boyfriend. One that will back you on causes you find important in your life. Animal cruelty is bad and you don’t have to stop eating meat in order to support this cause.

This sounds serious. If he really cares about you he’ll support you in whatever you do, even if, as spiratec said, he doesn’t support the cause directly. As for being a hypocrite, I can see how you’re torn. I agree with you onj animjal cruelty: it annoys me to death and I despise those who participate. However, the way I see it is this: one person not eating meat, even a hundred people not eating meat, won’t stop people from killing animals for food. Although, like spiratec said, vegetarian is healthier. If you really feel strongly about meat, maybe try eating less of it instead of cutting it out completely. And I agree with everyone: he doesn’t seem like a very supportive bf. Try talking to him about it tomorrow when you’ve both cooled down a little and can talk reasonably without starting an argument.

I do not agree with the views of many people (vice versa, of course). But it is wrong to mock their viewpoints. I can disagree with someone and still respect him or her. I can hold viewpoints diametrically opposed to the viewpoints of someone else, and still be his or her friend.

One of the real “love busters” out there is the devaluing of another’s beliefs or opinions.

Your boyfriend is very immature. Let’s hope he learns better.

By the way, we treat animals in the United States much worse than in Europe. In Europe, all the shelters are “no kill.” Here in the USA we have “Auschwitzes for animals” in the form of so-called “Humane Societies.” I note that we also do not provide health care for our citizens. I think there is a definite parallel.

As great as it is that he apologized, the fact that he got _that_ angry in the first place leaves some questions as to whether or not he’s really worth your time…

Well I think its great that you don’t like the cruelty to animals, and I think its an even better Idea to get a job at a shelter. The impact you can have on the lives of those animals will be greater than you could ever know, they can’t always show thier appreciation but you yourself know that your helping these animals, and who knows it could lead to a career as a vet, you said you were gonna be in the medical field anyway, why not help animals to live for a living?

It’s not wrong to eat meat, You didn’t pull the trigger and we are carnivores by nature.

I wouldn’t give up on a years worth of a relationship just like that though, unless you have had serious talks with him about this before. But I am gonna call him a dousch for acting that way. I would suggest when you see him next, have a serious talk about this problem before you even give em a kiss. Let him know if he can’t stop being so hateful toward your passion, perhaps it is time for you 2 to go your seperate ways. Your a 1 in a million type person based on the short time I’ve known you (even though you deleted me from ur buddy list!!!) and I think theres a lot of people who would go through hell and back to be able to spend time with you.
