It started across the fence,
Nervous chit chat, and short answers, avoiding eye contact as our moms talked,
Then we got closer, climbed over that fence.
Allowed each other the right to dig deeper.
We learned from each other, and grew more dependent.
We hung out all the time, and never got sick of each other.
We almost craved each others company. Atleast I did
Our driveway talks became sacred. The only place where judgements were not allowed
We shared everything on that cement.
Tears, laughter, truths, fears.
Nothing could be kept from each other.
We grew close to others too, moved our chats to the courts,
A larger area, because our truths expanded to include others.
It wasn’t just us any more, we added others in our alliance of facing the world
Now we had four. But secretly we still had just us.
With our four we shared the same that we had with just two.
The truths were still truths, the tears were still there, laughter was abundant and fears were real.
But together we could face anything, because we knew how they could feel.
We grew closer, us four, but still no one was as close as me and you.
I thought maybe I could be really close to them, but girls just don’t understand.
They play like they do, and they show empathy and compassion, but they are just waiting for their own lives to happen.
But you stuck by me, more than they could.
I hated losing them I didn’t ever expect I would.
But sadly they grew closer and our foursome became two again.
They left me, left us, left you.
But I don’t mind, because I still have you.
And I’m okay with is being just two.
You understand me more than anyone else,
And somehow you read me like a book.
You take little things that I cant fix, and piece them together and get everything to fit.
If I didn’t have you, I would have fallen into pieces that couldn’t be put back together.
And I thank God that I will always have you forever.
I love you more than you will ever know, but maybe, you already do, and that’s why you haven’t left me too.
