Xeno’s Random Video Shuffle IV
Sorry, I know I’m a bit late with this one. I’ve been a bit busy trying to not starve to death.
Anyway.
This is a video I’ve loved for a long time. It’s one of the few videos to actually make me tear up a bit. The whole package is a Master’s Thesis Animation, from a student named Dony Permedi at The School of Visual Arts, MFA Computer Art.
His… (or possibly her) website is located here: www.donysanimation.com
This video is called “Kiwi!”
Enjoy.
Yours , as always,
Xeno Dragon

Oh. Well, kiwi birds can’t fly.
Yep got that, been to NZ. Hmm, am I going to look silly in a bit…
So he…
oh, right there. LOL
Cheers
He spent all that time and energy pulling trees up the cliff, and nailing them in place, and then suicide jumped, just to realize his dream of finally knowing what it’s like to fly.
thanks, I just got that when I was writing the last post. That’s a well told story in just 3 mins

Hey man, that was wonderful. Although on one level you could say it was a suicide jump, on another it’s not at all. I looked at it more as living your life to the fullest. So much of this world is hard work, drudgery you might say. The little kiwi spent him/herself building something beautiful in order to realize an impossible dream. It might have been the dream of a para-athlete who punishes him/herself building upper body strength in order to compete in wheelchair races. It could be someone who works with HIV-positive children in order to extend their lives or just to make their years as joyful as possible. It could be someone who rescues animals, or forests, vintage music or their own self-esteem.
A life well-spent, well-lived is like a flying kiwi, a paradox, a mystery, a song sung with heart.
Thanks for posting this x; now I’ll have to go back and visit the others in your youtube series.

Sorry about that, I used Fire’s amazing invite all button.
Ohhh i get it now it took two times for me to understand and i felt kind of slow for a sec lol
Great way to get better wings and a halo, too.
Nah, it’d have to be wings and horns and a tail, because you know… suicide, and all that.
haha i thought it was good. at first i was wondering what was going on then i saw the other trees and knew. again very good.

You can just spin the tale to please yourself. Why not? The artist created his story but left the ending to your imagination. When I go, I hope I am doing something spectacular.

I wrote a post about what the best suicide ever would be, once.

it ended with a thud. his wings are too small for him to fly with.
Xeno - I have to be honest, I didn’t get it at first. but all that work that little Kiwi bird did to live his dream, that hard work and effort to make something happen, to experience a dream, and then life ends as a result of the pursuit of a dream. so bittersweet…
I remember Kiwi. It was brilliant. You can hear a *thump* at the end.
*tears* He wanted to fly so bad that he chose to risk his life to do it. wow. He truly lived his dream and died happy. Inspirational and sad. Thanks Xeno :)

When my sister first showed me this vid I couldn’t stop crying. Its just really sad.

There were moas.
Giant versions of kiwis that used to live in NZ, but they were… LARGE.
that was soo cute and know u make me want to cry cause the poor little “birdy” couldn’t fly and know he has kinda a feeling how it feels and end up “CRASHING”. all else it was sooooo nice and that birdy is sure well smart/fearless/a tad bit stupid.

Not in the case of this poor kiwi. It was a one shot drop. I’m just happy that he didn’t hit all the trees on the way down.
