~Here I Go Again~

Why does it seem that life can be so dam* cruel? Never ending agony? It seems as though I have gone through life living enough life times for about 15 people and yet, here I go again. UGH!!!

For the past 3 days, I have had such a horrible stomach ache. A stomach ache in which I have never felt before. Trying to ignore the pain as I do with all the pain that I suffer with already, I found myself waking myself up with cries of agony. Now, I am a person who does not cry over pain, I deal and suffer only taking medication when I just can no longer deal with it and it has me completely bed ridden… but for the past 3 days, I have had this sharp, stabbing pain in my upper abdomen.

Thinking it could possibly be gas, I stopped drinking my pepsi (which Im sooooooooo addicted too) and have been taking Gas X trying to relieve the pressure.

No longer being able to stand the pain any longer, I forced myself to go to the Emergency Room tonight and to my horror, Im suffering from gallbladder attacks. UGH!!!

After several needles because of the nurses having no friggin idea how to get my blood and an IV to give me fluids and morophine, I am now home. I have more testing to do on Monday and eventually, will have to have yet another surgery..

I sooooooooooooo hate taking all these pain killers and usually dont take them unless like I said, Im bed ridden… but this pain is really unbearable…

Has anyone else had their gallbladder removed? How did you feel after having it out? Just curious.

My mom had her gallbladder removed years ago. I don’t remember much about it, but she’s been fine ever since. It seems to me that it’s actually fairly common among mothers to have it removed. I’ve never seen any studies making that link, but I have noticed just in my family and friends that only women I know have had their gallbladders removed and the same women have had other surgeries related to childbirth such as bladder re-attachment and hysterectomies..

you are right.. but… they did all sorts of testing and such… no gallstones at all… what is happening is, it just isnt working properly.. so i have to have more tests on monday in which they test the gallbladder and such with some sort of medication to make it extract and what ever i guess… lol.. the tablets are for the pain that im having at the moment.. but they dont want to operate until they know exactly what is going on with it..

yup, my mother had hers removed many years ago.. but by the time i got home, it was too late to call her to find out about it… also, my sister actually has to go in 2 weeks to have hers removed as well…
as for other surgeries.. yes, i actually had a hysterectomy 1 1/2 years ago due to fibroids and also had to have my bladder re attached or put in a hammock is what they call it as well… how weird…

The one thing that aggravates the gallbladder is drinking. Alcohol for some reason brings on an attack. I would carefully considered getting the operation because some people are helped with an operation and some are not. Most people go ahead with the operation because the pain is unbearable. So until you can see your doctor “don’t drink”.

you will be fine, these doctors go through seven years of university and training, they know what they are doing. yours is a routine operation. they have taken tests and sent you home because it is not life threatening, when the tests come back they will determine the best course of treatment which will be pills or surgery, whichever the doctor prescribes will be the best for you.. i hope you get better soon, but don’t worry your in the hands of dedicated professionals.

I understand your ability to block out pain. I do that too, but with your medical history I think that you should never ever do that again. If you are in pain go directly to hospital, do not pass go do not collect $200.
It could of been something majorly life threatening.

thank you lilies… finally got to bed about 5 am this morning or so… got up at 10am with rog…. so came here while smoking a cig and drinking some hot cocoa… then im off to bed again… tummy is a little sore, feels a bit hard and kind of heavy feeling… weird… but i have a major headache starting but that is due to being tired… not taking any tylenol for the headache just yet because of the stomach thing… i have a pain pill for it that i might have to take soon, not sure how im going to feel after drinking a little bit… so holding off on that…

well, im not much of a drinker… shoot, the last time i drank was new years eve and then in june for rog’s birthday… so i guess that is a good thing huh?
that is just my luck… same with my neck surgery… 50/50 chance of it being worse than before surgery and with me i got the -50% and am worse now than before…
as for the pain… it is like someone taking a knife and stabbing me over and over for like a minute straight… then it goes away and comes back… a couple of minutes later… its definitely not something that i can live with…

What do you mean by gall bladder attacks?
Do you mean like a heart attack (where the coronary blood vessels become blocked, depriving the heart of blood)
or do you mean gall stones?

My mum had her gall bladder removed because of gall stones…
She was fine after the operation
She copes quite well with operations, I’m assuming you do too

Don’t eat lots of fatty foods, whole milk or anything like that - without your gall bladder being able to store bile, you can only use as much as you can produce with your liver

that is what is making me feel a little better… it being a routine operation… something that is done basically daily… so thank you for reminding me of that… that helps a lot…

yes… people look at me and cant even tell that im in pain most of the time unless i complain about it… because its ‘normal for me’… the pain scale that the doctors give you for pain, from 1 to 10… im always a 6.. ALWAYS…. but to look at me, no one can tell because i have been able to adjust to it.. its when i hit a 10, people know… i have never been able to complain about pain my entire life… with my parents or the ex husband… so its just normal for me to not complain……. but with this pain, it was just way too much to hold in… and finally had to get some sort of opinion from a doctor… :) but i would still like to collect that $200…. ill just take a short cut next time… lmfao..

well, i dont have gall stones… that has been ruled out… but my gallbladder isnt working right.. it doesnt contract and what ever it is suppose to do when you eat or drink… in fact, i have no idea what its really for… just know it isnt working right…. it feels like someone is stabbing me… lasting a minute or so… and then coming every couple of minutes… yes, i do well with surgeries.. infact, with my neck surgery and my hysterectomy, i came home and was doing house work… not having to take any pain meds at all… yeah, i was sore… but again, that is all normal for me to be in some kind of pain… as for fatty foods.. hehehehehehe yes, i eat hamburg and stuff.. as for milk, no.. im lactose intolerant and dont like the taste milk anyways.. …
oh boy, liver not too good either… lmfao… from all the tylenol that i have taken over the years.. i have high enzymes from it.. that is why i have an appointment with a pain management dr next month… to get something that i can take for my migraines that i get daily.. but even with that.. i only take medication when i just cant deal anymore..

Oh right.
But either way, your gall bladder = kaput.

The gall bladder stores bile, and releases it into the gastrointestinal tract (I think the stomach) when needed.
The liver makes bile, which contains enzymes that digest specific chemicals, and I’m pretty sure one of them is fat.

But the tylenol may be making up for the lack of enzymes being produced by your kaput liver - but even so, without a gall bladder, your body can store very little bile, meaning you would have a small amount of bile constantly being released…When you eat a fatty meal, if your gall bladder was working, your gall bladder would empty itself into your stomach, releasing more bile than you can produce immediately to aid fat digestion

My mum can’t eat whipped cream I think it is because of the high fat content

There is outpatient surgery now done with a minimumal amount of invasive surgery. You could be going home the same day. They make three small incisions about 1/2 inch and use microscopic surgical instruments to remove the gallbladder. Some people have even gone to work the next day, although I don’t recommend it.

Ursodial is the medication that people take to disolve the gall stones.

There is also alcohol in so many of the cough syrups and cough medicines. That too will aggravate the gall bladder.

Yes, I had my gallbladder removed last year. I had twice an attack and the last one was so severe, they didn’t let me go home. For 5 weeks they gave me IV liquid food, no solid food or drink and the 6th day I had the surgery. The next day they let me go home. I was recovering at home for a month. After that, I felt better but I had to change my diet. Before I ate lots of spicy food, I am not a drinker, now everything has to be boiled or grilled. You will feel much better after it is removed. Let me know what happened.

Girl you’ve to to lay off that ol soda, have you ever soaked a penny in a cup of Coke and seen how bright and sparkly it comes out ? it tells you right there the acid in it also eats away at your inner workings. Hiya hun, i’m sorry to hear about it but I am so dam happy you finally went to the ER. Seriously you don’t go enough lol.

My nan had hers out and she found that she got a bad stomach if she ate spicy food but apart from that its not effected her. She says she gets acid or indegestion a few times and she didn’t before. But antacids usually fix it.#

Hey Shie. I’m so sorry that you are feeling too good. I only wish I had some advice to give you, but I haven’t. I really do hope that your doctor manages to find something to make your life easier.

yeah, i know… but i eat… not a lot.. rog actually has a fit cuz i pick like a bird.. basically i hate food and am a survivor of anorexia so i dont eat much.. but i do eat enough to keep me living.. the swelling in my tummy must be from the bacteria inside because i have been taking the antibiotics and the swelling has gone down a little bit but its still there… i have my scan set for friday and will know more then on what they are going to do…

my tummy isnt hurting as bad as it was… im not doubled over anymore.. i think the antibiotics have kicked butt on any infection that might have occurred… im still a little tendor and have a pinching feeling where my gallbladder is… but its dealable.. i will let ya all know what happens when i get my results… hugs, shie.

WELL… i went for my hida scan today… all i can say is that IM NOT HAPPY at all!!

when i got there, i was told that they had to give me an IV… well, on saturday when i went to the hospital with my pain, the lady giving me an IV was putting the needle in and out in and out.. and i was ready to slap her… cuz it hurt!! so i told the dr today.. you have one chance to put it in.. no putting it in and out.. you go to put it in.. you push it in.. no playing around… well, the dr did great.. didnt even feel it really… i think he was a bit worried.. lol. cuz i was serious about it lol..

well, i had to be given some sort of ‘crystals’ put into my blood stream that went directly to my gallbladder… i was in an open mri in which i could see the screen and i have to say, it was quite neat… i could see little by little, my gallbladder filling up with these crystals and glowing…

after laying there for an hour and a half, basically falling to sleep, the dr had to come give me yet another dose of something to make my gallbladder work… he told me that i wont feel anything.. but if i did, i could feel a little sick or i could feel just a little bit of pain in my tummy like i had on sunday… but it would only last just a few minutes… not happy about this, i said.. ok… lets do it and get it over with..

well, with in a few minutes of getting the med.. i felt it… i felt sicker than a dog… and the pain in my stomach was horrible… not as bad as it was last week.. but it was still hurting… he then told me it will only last just a couple of minutes… i said, ok..

after about ten minutes… there i layed on the table… the sickness was gone.. but the pain.. still there…

he then replied that the pain should have gone away already… i told him.. well.. it didnt, its still here…
he then proceeded to tell me that the only reason that would be is if there is some malformation in my gallbladder…

i went home after all tests were done and there i layed on the couch in pain.. AGAIN… this is horrible.. its not as bad as last week, but its still there… im hoping that it will be gone by tomorrow.. and i dont go back into some sort of attack again…

i will be getting my results on monday… so i will let you know what happens or what is going to happen..

Well done for enduring the pain, it’s just part of the diagnosis process - if this didn’t happen you would probably have to sustain much more accumulated pain

hhhmmm, ill have to think about that… tough not rough…. doesnt sound like me… lmfao… i think… rough not tough… hahahahahahaha.. joking..

anyways, got some more bad news today… NEVER ENDING!

my scan for my gallbladder came back… showed nothing… so WHY the pain?? no one knows… hhhmmm… so now what?? i know im not imagining it… its real pain.

now for the real kicker.. went to the drs for my migraines… after having my surgery, the migraines feel SOOOOOOOOOO much worse than ever… even keeping me in bed… so i saw a specialist today for it.

his findings…. something major is going on with me. my eyes are not dialating and my migraines are not migraines… he said that migraines dont last weeks at a time…. he is now thinking there is something wrong with my brain… i go for a brain scan on the 24th of december…

GREAT… now what? ~sigh~

i have to giggle a little bit… about the ‘i die, you die’ comment. you are absolutely right!!! i absolutely love your music and listened to it yesterday… cried my little eyes out for a little bit and then took a nap.

as for my kids… my mother is in contact with the people who care for my children. i actually begged her today to talk to these people. let them know what im dealing with.. and that for my own needs … i need my children home!! i think that with THAT stress done with, i can then work on my health…. but until that gets settled… im in limbo… know what i mean? so we will see what happens from here..

I had several gall bladder attacks about thirteen years ago, and finally had one that I couldn’t stand any more. I went to the doctor’s office after work, was admitted to the hospital on an emergency basis, and spent a week attached to an IV because my gall bladder was too inflamed for the surgery. The surgery itself only involved small incisions, and the pain afterward was not as bad as having a gall bladder attack. The incisions now would be much smaller and might even be done through very tiny openings. I would say, “Go for it.” It only gets worse the more you put it off.

as for surgeries, im not afraid of them anymore… infact, just had screws and a plate put into my neck back in june and i came home from the hospital, didnt have to take any pain meds and was picking up the house and doing dishes… i hide my pain very well… and sometimes i think pain is so normal for me now that i dont even feel it anymore like normal people would… my boyfriend had to keep ‘yelling’ at me to sit down and relax… lmfao…
