Maths help greatly needed please :)

Ok, I have a maths exam this Tuesday and Im really stuck with one part of my revision.
Prime factorisations.
I just can’t understand it! Ive searched the web for over an hour trying to look for what it is!
Ive been on every revision website I know and I still can’t find anything!
Its really beginning to frustrate me because I more or less know that one of the first questions on the paper will be on this. The beginning of the paper is where you pick up grades and if I get them wrong Im more or less doomed to failure.
I may be overreacting a little at the moment but I just needed to know.
What are Prime Factorisations?
How do I work them out?

i am indian and v have factorisations but i want to know exactly what type of help you need….. just post one of questions from ur book…….

Prime factorizations is taking one number and continuously dividing it by prime numbers until the last quotient is a prime. All of the divisible numbers are part of the prime factorization.

An example is 84
84 / 2 = 42
42 / 2 = 21
21 / 3 = 7

Since 7 is prime, the factorization stops there. The prime factorization should then be: 2 * 2 * 3 * 7

2,3,5,7,11,13,17,19,23,29,31,37,41,43,47,53,59,61,67,71,73,79,83,89,97

tools you need. 1. calculator ( or brain) 2. list of primes ( 2,3,5,7,11,13,17,etc.) try writing them down at least once 3. pencil 4.paper.

put # into calculator and see if 2 divides it evenly. yes! record the 2 in your answer. if no try next prime. if it divides record 3 etc. after a few times stepping through with the calculator you will see the pattern but likely by then the class will be at binomial factoring or trinomial factoring. try paying attention in class. most teachers give you time to practice new material in class. or trying making notes instead of texting all class. good luck
