Problems with McAfee virus protection.

When my computer goes to get the latest updates it tells me I’m not protected and if I want to fix the problem, click on FIX. I click fix and it goes through the motion to fix it and it comes back with a message that I need to reinstall McAfee security center, virus scan & anti-spam. I call my service provider and instead of assisting they give me a website. Is there anyone that can help me?

I think you should do exactly what the thing is tellin you to do. Re install McAfee security, virus scan and anti spam and your problems should be fixed. Sometimes thats all a program needs to be running smoothly again.

lol.. ok. Just follow this:

Start / Control Panel / Add Or Remove Programs

Find McAfee and its components in the list and click remove.

Did you install from a McAffee disk? I had the same problem with my brand new McAffee package!

I ended up having to contact McAffee customer support via their instant online chat facility. They “helpfully” wiped the install remotely (without so much as a may we?) and then told me that I had up to 30 days to re-install from my account online! They also told me NOT to use my brand new disk. Unfortunately, having effectively acted to “repair” the product, I now have no legal redress to demand a refund. I have to say I wasn’t impressed, given that the whole point of purchasing a disk was to have the ability to reinstall should my computer need repair!

My advice would be to go back to customer service and insist they guide you step-by-step through the process. You are certainly NOT alone in encountering this problem.

No, actually its offered through my Windstream telephone service for so many dollars a month… they are not familiar about anything just help with downloading it on their site. Needless to say very disappointed because when they were promoting the software, they told me that I could call them with technical difficulties until this morning. Rude awakening…I guess I’m afraid of changing settings and stuff because they had me to do all of it when I installed it the first time. I could uninstall and call them back for reinstallment huh? I might give it a try and for the 1st time in months I had a chance to speak to someone who speaks fluently in English.

It sounds like exactly the same error I had on the disk, so it’s clearly a blip in the mcaffee software!

Try and get onto their live chat session link as opposed to the telephone helpline. It shouldn’t cost! Here’s a link that might help

It is a notorious firm for getting it wrong. Not one of the best programs to depend on, to protect your computer.
You should seriously think about getting something better then McAffee.

About your cookie settings. I can only tell you about internet explorer.
Go to the top of this page, find tools, click on it.
Then click on internet options.
At the top of the box that comes up, click on Privicy.
In the middle of the box that comes up click Advanced.

You are now offered a choice of things to do.

You will see Cookies.
Under it you will see, Overide Automatic cookie handling, click inside the little check box just before it. You will see a tick appear in the little box.

Under this are two more options.

The first one First Party Cookies, under this one click on the accept check box.
The second one Third Party Cookies click the block option.

This is the best settings to ensure maximum, sensibble protection for your computer.

Since it is the new month tomorrow you should cancel the magafee and uninstll all of its parts then install a free version of virus protection which I use and so do many others. Because its free.

If your PC seems like its slowing down and having a hard time surfing the web or just doesn’t seem right. If you think that you have a virus or bug. You need to clean it out first to find out what’s causing the problems. Here’s a few programs that I use regularly and they take very little time and skill to run.
You should go to http://download.com and get these programs.
AD WARE AND SPY WARE REMOVERS:
AD-Aware: http://www.download.com/3120-20_4.htm…
Spybot search and destroy: http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search…
CCleaner: http://www.download.com/CCleaner/3000…
If you don’t have an Antivirus program you can use.
Avast: http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Ed…
or AVG: http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Viru…
and for your firewall a good program is
Zone Alarm: http://www.download.com/ZoneAlarm-Fir…
Install these programs and run them regularly. This will keep your system clean and running properly. These programs are free and Download.com is a part of CNET (the site that your posting on right now). Hope this helps :-)

I am constantly told that my software has not been completely installed.
Therefore, I click “fix” and the box disappears. However, it reappears when I turned the computer on again.

What is wrong?
