I loaded Microsoft XP operating system but it did not have any drivers for sound.

The device manager says that I need to load sound devices. please help

go to download.com or downloads.com … and download the VLC media player. I did the same thing and it placed all of the drivers on my PC for me.

The default Windows install disc usually does not have too wide a range of drivers, so it may not have found a suitable one for your sound card when installing.

If you have successfully connected to the internet and know what sound card you have, go online to the manufacturer’s website and attempt to download the driver. Or try google if they don’t have it.

I had the same problem with XP.

As much as Vista sucks, it’s got a few minor perks.

Happened to mine when I reinstalled. I went to dell.com, (my computers a dell) and got some sound drivers. Works fine now.

if youre able to open computer without voiding warranty i suggest doing so to check brand and model of sound card then go to website of manufacturer and download driver, however if this is not a feasible option for you, you should check your device manufacturer and model using some kind of system information tool that returns data about your pci cards, good ones included on hirens boot cd
