Just be there for him if he wants to talk, make sure he knows that you’ll listen even if he’s spouting a bunch of crap he’ll apreciate it im sure, other than that there isn’t much you can do. good luck

you know what I did when my best friends dad died. When she started to cry I just told her listen. Think about your dad would he want you to be crying your eyes out for him? no! He would want you to remember the good times that you had with him. And then I would usually tell a funny story about him or a happy memory and it would always go from tears to laughter. I remember one. Her dad used to always be a bit of a joker. I was at her house and the video of Jessica Simpson car washing video came on. His wife (my friends mom) was in the room and she did one of those “sighs” and gave a speech about what is the world coming to. He just laughed and thought it was hysterical. So as a joke the next day he parked his car in the driveway and got in his swim suit and he told me to find “that crap that you teens like” to play in the background while he washed his car and I video taped the whole thing. I was laughing so hard just trying to hold the camera still, but when he gave it to his wife she was crying she was laughing so hard. And the time he told my friends brother to go out and he would chip him a golf ball and see if he could catch it. Of course the kid tries to catch it and ends up having a big red circle on his hand for about a week. And we just keep talking about all these good times and believe me it really works. They will feel so much happier and they’ll smile and ugh it’s such a good feeling when you feel so bad.
