I put tons of lotion on it but it drys out again in a few hours and starts to peel again. it doesn’t ich or anything, but i look stupid with white bits of dead skin hanging off of my face all the time. does anyone know what causes this or how to make it stop?

Go to a dermatologist. It could be an early sign of skin cancer. Better to find out what causes it by a professional rather than by charlatans like me.

There are a whole host of things that can cause spontaneous exfoliation of the skin (peeling). From a reaction to medications, to hormonal flux, to a condition like psoriasis or a vitamin A overdose. Central heating and air conditioning can also play havoc!

My advice would be to avoid using any creams or lotions for a while, get plenty of fresh air and watch your diet. Include lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, cut down on additives and drink plenty of water. Keep your skin clean but avoid scrubbing or using too much soap. You should make an appointment to see a dermatologist or your doctor. They will be able to run some simple tests and give you the best advice. A pharmacist will be able to advise you on a gentle alternative to soap which can have an adverse effect on sensitive skin.

I have the same problem! Everyone says “oh, its just dry skin.” But this has just started happening within the past few months. All around my eyebrows and mouth. I walk around for hours, go to the bathroom, and take a look in the mirror and freak. I had been walking around for god knows how long with a bunch of white dead skin on my face. It’s gross. I might go to pcp soon to see if he can give me any suggestions.
