college help: Tulsa, Oklahoma - Help.com

Tulsa, Oklahoma

I’m moving to Tulsa for college in the aeronautics field and I’m from New Jersey. I’m scared cause I have never met an Oklahoman, no idea what the people are like, and I looked at the map and it’s like in the center of the United States and it’s pass the Mississippi River (omg) and there are tornadoes…

I’ve driven through Oklahoma… not much stood out about it but there’re plenty of people who live there — so, civilization, culture, life. More like desert/prairie/farmland than the treeish-citiness that I remember of New Jersey.

You will automatically be shunned as an outsider and idiot because of your accent. Get used to being called yankee or joisey boy. Learn to hunt and fish and talk slower and you may survive.

Beware of the Indians though. I wouldn’t recommend coming into Oklahoma at night. I cant tell you how many people have gone missing while driving alone at night on a long stretch of high way with no buildings in site. The Indians are very territorial, smart, and aggressive. You may have 400 horses under that hood..but have you ever seen the hills have eyes? Yeah the Indians have watched it too, they have mastered the beginning of that movie. Beware..

You should really wiki. information on Tulsa. It’s a very manageable city to live in.

The people are nice and friendly overall. Honestly, you are freaking out over nothing.

Tulsa is a good city. Low cost of living, lots of colleges here so there are a lot of young people. Lots of coffee shops, restaurants, museums, parks, etc to go to.

For entertainment in Tulsa do a google on Brookside, Cherry Street, or Blue Dome district in Tulsa

There are a few lakes in the area of you are into that type of thing. Lake Oolagah, Lake Keystone, and Lake Skiatook

Traffic is pretty low for a city of the size, and people are pretty friendly as a whole.

The tornadoes aren’t as bad as the hype would have you think. The landscape isn’t flat and boring all across the state. Did you know Oklahoma actually has salt flats, and a desert?

You really should check out this link here for a lot more info and to ask questions
