Advice on Laptops…

…..

Ok I maybe getting a Laptop for Christmas, Id like some advice from Computer Geeks and those that have one that they can recommended. I want one for the Usual things, i.e Email, messenger, surfing the net etc. I don’t want a black keyboard as Ive found with our PC the numbers and letters rub off in a very short while :/ . Pricewise maybe around $500/600
I just like to hear from people, that have got one, like it, and can recommend it. Please supply make and model, number and price. Thanks in advance :-)

I have a black keyboard… I eat fried chicken and type on it… My numbers and letters are fine ^^.

The HP that I have works fine for me, cost about $600 without the webcam and a smaller screen, a bit more with both of those. This is the one I have:

Good think about mine is that it’s durable as hell. Like I said, I eat and use it and it’s never given me problems. I also get frustrated easily and end up beating it up or throwing it and it still works fine :).

Yeah, I usually clean my keyboard with rubbing alcohol like once a month, or when it needs it… all letters are still there.

I have an acer aspire 17″ monitor it works great. I paid 500 for it. theres others that cost less with a smaller screen. I nuked the HDD and installed Windows Vist Business and it flys. Heres a few links of some laptops that are good. Check them out and see what you like.

Each brand has its good and bad points. I think that with acer you get more bang for the buck. Your not paying for the brand name, which means nothing because the boards and parts are all the same. Either your running Intel or AMD. It all depends what you own as to your favorites. The one bad thing with all of them is that they haven’t come up with a battery that will run it for at least a week without charging. LOL :-)

I have Compaq. Which is in association with HP.
And it’s not that great. The servicing doesn’t take long though once it’s picked up. But yeah mine’s got many problems.
I think with HP like what The Clue said you get more bang for your buck. :P
And yeah 1 Week Battery! I wish! :D

i agree a refurb for about 300 is probally better then spending 600 on a new one. you buy on ebay or any site just make sure they have a tech dept. so if there is a issue they can assit you. laptopadvantage seems ok. i personaly like the corporate grade laptops. like the dell d10/d620.
