AS far as I know, america isn’t a healthcare state by far. People are just not supported by their governements. They are left to die. Even though one percent of the war budget could change america into a healthcare state….

Good questions.It is better than it used to be.Dental and eye care used to be left out ,as if it isn’t part of health .argh.And chiropractive services were even less than . Thank God it is better, but if a person has no permanent resident the health care is even worse and harder to get.That I think is a worse crime since they need it just as much if not more.I didnt know Aussies had it so good.I feel for your friend.I was in tremendous pain with dental and for an emergency walk in the costs would have been $100.00 plus the costs of treatment.The worst pain Ive ever had to endure for 3 days.Tell your friend to keep trying, the help is out there,it just takes a lot of dilligance, some time and humbling to get it.

Yes, the healthcare system here sucks. Tell your friend to check with community clinics, dental schools, or dental assisting schools. They sometimes offer very cheap dental services to the public and it also helps the students (who are supervised by real dentists). Good luck!

The health care system in America is about to undergo a tremendous change. Most citizens here support the change as evidenced by their vote for a man who promised the change. Not everyone agrees, though. Americans cling to deeply held beliefs in personal freedom. Those of us whose forefathers fled a country where they were persecuted or even imprisoned by a government for their beliefs, fear turning control of our healthcare to any government. Once the federal government becomes our healthcare provider, we lose our individual right to determine our own priorities for our care.
As it is now, most of us choose an employer based on salary and a package of benefits, which usually contains company paid health insurance. The insurance usually covers a worker’s dependents, as well. Government (taxpayer) provides healthcare for those who are unable to work, if they are also financially unable to take care of themselves. Those who do not work and can afford to pay for their own health insurance are expected to do so.
Personal freedoms are not free, they require devotion to hard work and a determination to be self-reliant. I am willing to be charitable and through taxes, pay for those who need help. I do fear the changes that are to come. I fear needing a procedure or surgery and having to fight a government beaurocracy to get what I need. I fear losing my freedom to choose my doctor. I fear that I will be taxed so heavily that I will not be able to afford to take care of myself. I fear losing my personal freedom.
