I have 2 undeletable icons that just appeared on my desktop at different times.
Neither has an extension.
Both were originally e-mail titles that I did not save.
The 2 files are:
Fwd_ AHHHH AAAAAAAAA MY FRIEND………….
and
Fwd_ 2 TREES AND A WOODPECKER………
I have searched the web for solutions, but none have worked.
In DOS mode they do not appear in the desktop directory.
If I right click properties, it says 0 bytes and 0 disk space.
Their location is C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.YOUR-3EA65CCD03\Desktop
I can change the associations and the icon changes, but still no delete. If I try to open it (with new association), the application opens but I get the error:
“This file could not be found.
Try one or more of the following:
*Check the spelling of the name of the document.
*Try a different file name.
(C:\…\(file name)”
I cannot change the name or extension. When I try I get the error “Cannot rename file: Cannot read from the source file or disk.”
I cannot move icon to another folder, but I can move it around the desktop.
I’ve gone to the desktop file folder with explorer to delete it directly but no joy; same error message.
