Question about hitchiking…

I’m pretty sure I’m going to head down to San Diego for 7-10 days by bus… but was just wondering if anyone knows how long it might take to hitch back to Oregon. Anyone have experience with this?

Mapquest or Google Maps will tell you driving times, but guys and older people and (maybe) groups will spend more time waiting. Try craigslist Rideshare.

I have gone from Utah to LA more than once.

Are you in Portland?

No… Eugene… I’ll likely be hitching back alone I think though and I’m a younger college student so I don’t know. I’m pretty sure when I get past San Francisco it shouldn’t be too hard because a lot of the people there are pretty liberal. Just wasn’t sure about the San Diego to San Francisco stretch… or even up through the I-5 corridor

Wish I could help more. But check out Priceline’s Name Your Own Price. With 40% off, its usually cheaper than a bus ticket. I highly recommend it.

And if you are female, I’d say don’t do it, but I’m sure you know the risks, so… yadda yadda yadda.

Buy a Greyhound bus ticket. If you hitchhike, you could end up dead. It’s a little known fact that 50,000 people in the USA disappear every year. And 3,000 bodies are found. Hitchhiking is just flat not worth the risk.

Hitchhiking would be a pretty dumb thing to do I’d pay for a trip somehow

Priceline can be cheaper than Greyhound with 40% off. Research their round trip tickets, then deduct 40% off the listed price.

Okay, I checked. Greyhound RT from Eugene to San Diego would be $300. Priceline is $250.

And the odds are 1,000 percent better that you will arrive alive!

Well… maybe not on a Greyhound… but yes, definitely a better idea than hitchhiking.
