I voted 1 but I don’t mean the doorknobs thing literally. Just…most other things that normal people don’t have as much problem with.

I am in my second year of university, but university/college isn’t a measure of smarts. Practically anyone can get in and leave with a degree.

I’ll let the public decide how smart I am. It doesn’t bother me. To claim smarts on the internet is a futile task. Even more futile than an IQ test. :D

You’re close to a 4 if you’re in your second year of college. Maybe you’re 3.14.

the reference to the thrird year of college is because of the many, many, MANY people I have met that are in thier second to last year of schooling, and for some reason think the knowledge they have makes them among the smartest meatsacks on the block.

Now I understand that this comes from the sense of enlightenment they have from learning so many new things, and learnig new ways to think and analyze things, but that does not make it any less humorous or predictable.

I really am average, even with the high IQ and the gourgeous eyes. I know a lot about a very few subjects, and am willing to learn about anything that interests me.

And I have learned what are, in my opinion, three of the most important things. There are no absolutes in knowledge, there is no limit to knowledge, and that there is no way, no possible way, to prove ANYTHING beyond a doubt without some faith.

Analyze that.

I believe that Bogdan is absolutely correct here.
All college does is prime our minds for what we learn out here in the real world.
I also believe that there are much more important cnntributors to “intelligence”.
Such as experience, and street smarts.
All of the book smarts in the world will still not stack up without those two.
Do you know what really scares me?
When I see the direction that kids in high school right now are taking.
When I read “d u lk mi lks” or “i m s prty”— it makes me want to bang my head on a wall.
Well, as I started saying, Bogdan is s rt on! :o)
And 布赖恩 , if YOU are average, I suddenly feel like the monkeys in awe of the monolith in 2001:A S O. hahahehe :o) Edie

OK OK. Let’s just hit on some numbers here, if we may.
Brian mentioned having a high IQ. And yet he is an individual who strives to learn something new all the time.
I attended college. And did very well. I, too, have a high IQ. As of 4 years ago, it stood at 139. What is yours, Brian?
And if anyone else has been tested, what are your numbers?
Just curious.(masking NOSY)
But still, having a high intelligence quotient means nothing without the knowledge to apply it.
I should know. hahaha Edie

i picked no. 5.
no. 6 was not included when i voted.
i could have chosen that. lol.
only because i am synonymous to a dragon. or a freak maybe. :p

anyway, i believe that there is always room for improvement.
and that includes learning. but one should be confident still.
of what he knows/ does not know. it is as simple as knowing your capabilities.
or potentials

I was tested when I was young and they wanted to ship me off to a school for the gifted in another province. I often wonder how my life would be different had I gone. I agree that it is something you have to apply, I’d likely test lower now than when I was a young gal although I am still like a sponge when something interests me.

I think we are all smart in different ways, it differs with one’s perception. The least “smart” people I have met are generally close minded and think they have all the answers. Usually among those are the uber educated lol.

147 on the Wechler.

Never finished high school. Car accident when I was in the junior/senior summer caused me to not be able to play football, so with that and trying to support myself (Kicked out at the age of 13) I decided to drop out.

by the age of 23 I was running the delivery division of Sear Logistic Service/jacksonville?florida.

Not bad, huh?

that 147 score was at least 15 years ago, and I never put much stock in it. Smarts is for readin, ritting and rythmatic, but to survive in the real world, you need common sense and gumption. Smart or not, with those traits, you will go far.

We dont need all that fancy book learnin, haha

People who have very high IQs can join clubs to be with like-minded people. One of the famous ones has an interesting name, “Mensa”. I wonder how they use it, like maybe they sometimes say, “Hi, I am a Mensan.” or maybe, “I have achieved Mensahood”. I don’t know, it just seems interesting to me.

oh, and they did put me in classes for the gifted..

Very unstructured, too much free time on our hands, with sporatic bursts of high pressure projects.

I would have been better off perfecting social ckills among the other “normal” kids

Yeah miss enigma!I know what you mean about being a sponge. It’s like I just cannot get enough. I read and scan and paw through books of any and all kinds. Been called “obsessive”. I disagree. I am just uber curious about everything.
Today, I am going to be learning quite a bit more.
I am a volunteer at the local elementary school. I will be working with the 7 year olds today.
Now THERE is an education! Edie

147. *smiles*
No, my friend. Not too shabby. Not too shabby at all.
But, you see, you do know how to apply it.
You come on here and share your wealth with everyone.
Admirable, just plain admirable.
Thank You, Brian. Edie

Yeah I had those in highschool, hated it. Like I want to read “Shane” just because the enrichment teacher though it was brilliant. Personally I found it a snore hehe.

No doubt! I can honestly say I learned more in “real life” than I ever did from a book. ;)

Or, how about I’m smart, but I don’t need to express it in vain? Maybe your idea of intelligence differs from mine. I enjoy gaining knowledge, not because I desire to be smarter than my peers, but because it enlightens me and I find significant interest in the hobby.

I felt very alone and laughable being the only one challenged by doorknobs :( People who know me don’t want to be embarrassed to know someone dumb, but I know I have some value despite everything.
