All are frozen solid shut–even spraying de-icer is not helping.

Get a hair dryer and thaw out the edges of the door and the handle/lock.

I used to use hot water poured slowly over the lock. There some commercial items available, but I assume you need to get to work. Get Hot water in a 1/2 gallon or so in a container, and pour it slowly over the lock. Should free it up. But you’re pouring water so if you go away to get more, it may freeze again. Good luck.

I have never had any really nice autos so I generally kick the door which serves two purposes, one, it breaks the seal of ice and two, it feels dang good…stupid winter :P

Or you could boil some water and add some salt to it and pour it over…that works too :)

You need to be careful with hot water, though. I’ve see people pour hot water on frozen windows and crack the glass.

Thanks, everyone. Those were all really good ideas. It was frustrating becoming late for work over this–just because I couldn’t get into the car!

I always get it by grabbing the top corner of the door and have another person pull on the handle.. that always works for me and that way you dont break the handle off the door.
