i got a powder coat Kenmore dryer recently and it made

a strong buring smell when i turned it on kinda like but not quite natural gas why is this and how do i get rid of it?

You may need to clean the drum and all the lint that has built up in it. You might need to call the repairman to clean it for you!

it is a brand new sryer though i got it a few days ago why would i have to clean it?

Then you should contact the place where you bought it. I am sure it came with a warranty. If it’s no good, they should be able to replace it for you free of charge!
