Click on the text tool, then click on the image where you want to place the text. There will be a button on the top toolbar that looks like a “T” with a curved line under it, it’s called “create warped text”. Click that and a window will pop up for making the text into different shapes.

That’s the only way I know how to do it.

That’s the right way. And if the text is already rasterized as an image, meaning you can no longer edit it in the title tool, then you can use the edit-transform-warp function.
