Money help: My sister and I are looking for help getting my 11 year lod son and her 5 year old son Christmas gifts this year. - Help.com

My sister and I are looking for help getting my 11 year lod son and her 5 year old son Christmas gifts this year.

We have no way of providing for them this year. I have lost my job after taking care of my mother when she was ill with terminal breast and liver cancer. I also lost my home because of the job loss and have had to move in with other family members and now we have 7 people in a 3 bedroom home and we are barley getting by. I have tried many local churches and have been turnded down due to them having more in need than they can help this year. The Salvation Army also turned us down for the same reason. I have tried Toys for Tots but have had no response from them. I am desperate for help. I have never had to tell my son that we have no money for gifts and I can not bare to see the look in his eyes if I have to do that this year. My cantact info is : (email removed). I live in the Biloxi,MS area. I hope someone out there can help or has info on how I can get some help! Thank You!!

Go to your local Fire Station and sign up for Toys for Tots.

sometimes a store will put up a tree with tags on it with info on a kid and what he/she wants for christmas. People pick off the tags and buy the stuff and the store gets it to the family. Have you checked with the food shelf? I know they don’t do toys but they might have contacts with other places that do. Also, what about making gifts. It depends on the age of the kids but sometimes you can make a game of it and say that all the gifts that the family gets each other this year have to be homeade because it’s more fun. Also, with the tough times in the country I bet there are others having this issue so there might be ideas if you hunt around online

Do you have a family member with some cool skill that can give your son a “ticket” for lessons on how to wood carve or sculpt or hunt or something. This could be a great gift that forms lasting memories
