I feel like dropping out.
I’m a freshman in college, but I don’t feel like this is for me. All my life I have been trying to decide what to do with my future and I still have no clue. It’s not like I’m confused between two or three different paths… the thing is I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT TO DO WITH MY LIFE WHATSOEVER. Being in college is so stressful, I never get work done because nothing interests me. I’m not doing well, and I feel bad that my parents are paying so much money to have me here. I can’t talk to them about this - no way. Every person in my family has earned a degree in college and they have all been so successful throughout their whole life. Failure is not an option, but I feel like one.

Where were you?

Jewel10: It could also be considered just as selfish to continue getting ones education paid for, which will never actually be used. The selfless thing MAY be to discover what to get an education on - First.
I enjoy doing so many things, but at the same time, nothing… it’s hard to explain, and even harder to understand.

Do you have any hobbies, they usually disguise the things we like or love to do..
I dropped out of school 2 years after I realized I didn’t really like what I was doing. I spoke to my dad about it, and he told me to make my own decision ’cause it’s my own life. I went to work. I’m still working now. I think in a matter of time, it will all show- whether you like the course or not. Think you should sit down and really think what are your options. Plenty of people go to work first. They can earn a living and slowly decide what they want to do with their lives. Seriously, when you’re young, how would you know what you want in life? Only when you’ve seen the world. And till then.
But really, if you hate it, just stop. Else, you’re just wasting money, time and effort.
True story…might help you!
When my brother tried to drop out his freshman year at Ole Miss, we went to the woodshed, as he was 3 years younger than myself and we had an “old fashion prayer meeting!” Actually, it got nasty. Today, he is now a retired teacher and cannot tell you the number of times that he has thanked me for that day. He has had a successful life due to a good education.
Don’t quit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah what i would do if i were you is to go to school part time, work in the meantime and take your time figuring what you want to do. It helps a lot of people when they have to workand go to school to figure it all out.

I’ve got news for you, the real world doesn’t get much better. You’re going to be working anywhere and having tasks due that you don’t feel like doing.
There are soooooo many stories of people who drop out and regret it. My husband is struggling now that he doesn’t have a degree. He didn’t notice the impact right away, but years later I’ve got my degree, I’m 9 years younger, and already probably more successful than he’ll ever be.
Don’t quit. It may feel like a chore now (believe me I hated every minute of university) but it really is for a better life down the road, and it’s VERY hard to go back later.
I understand what you going through. The best thing is for you to communication with your parent. This your life you talking about not theirs. College is not for everyone. You can get you a good trade and make money form that and it can be the career that you would love. Talk with your parent on your life style and don’t be afraid before it to late.

hey, i have no idea what freshman is, but im 19 and i dropped out of college, and now i do a manual job!
trust me when i say, just keep your head down and study. you dont want to end up like me……….
i work full time as a painter and decorator. and i really dont like it……
its hard work, boring and very repetitive.
although i dont like it, my options are limited, to going back and studying something,
or quit and find a new job.
most of my friends did what you are doing. they didnt know what they wanted to do,
but choose subjects they enjoyed and passed them. now a year on and they all know what field they what to end up in and attend unversity.
just stick with learning, and the rest will fall into place.
#1 you are NOT a failure!!!!
College should be done when you know what you want to do… you can take all of your core credits and get them out of the way… then maybe take some time off and experience life and see what really interests you. I think your parents should understand that you’re not ready for college right now and you want to save them some money… maybe take your core classes at a technical college or another less expensive school, then when you know what you want to be, go to a university for your classes pertaining to a particular degree concentration.
What do you like to do? Do you like math? Science? Counseling & helping people? Computers? Law? Take what you like doing already and apply it to school, sometimes it takes time to figure out exactly the way you want to go. There are so many different kinds of jobs out there… my dad tested computer games for Activision and helped make Mech Warrior. It’s all about what you see in your future, if you look 5 or 10 years down the road, what do you see yourself doing?
There are general degrees also… such as Liberal Arts or Business… if your parents are really atiment about you staying in college.
Good luck and I hope that everything works out for you!!!! :-)
hi i finished my first semester and truthfully Im on xmas break and dont feel like going back in 1 week..I realized working with kids is not for me..I know how you feel..I wish I had advice..but unfortunatly I dont. Guess it’s because Im in the same boat..perhaps take some time off to think about it..I just might do that
….BTW…I know how you feelbout no interest, it’s hard to ge good marks in something you have little or no interest in :(…let me know what you decide to do, what schoo are you in? I go to humber, in Toronto–well rexdale actually
