life help: I need to feel good about myself again. - Help.com

I need to feel good about myself again.

I’m really struggling with my body image, my personality, and my personal life. I’ve gained weight recently, but can’t seem to shed the extra pounds. I need motivation, but can’t find it and hate going to the gym. My personality is very shy and quiet and scared to come out of the shell. It’s hard to just change your personality over night. I want to be the one that lights up the room when I walk in, the life of the party, the good conversationalist. My personal life is the life that no one has seen for ages. I’ve had boys like me in the past and I’ve seemed to have lost that. I don’t let a lot of people in now. How can I open up and be more happy?

Have you tried regular exercise and eating more healthy foods. Sometimes the food we eat tend to drag our moods down. If you eat unhealthy food you might get depressed because all the healthy vitamins from good food are not being absorbed by your system. If you feel lethargic, sad, and with just plain blue moods, your inactivity and lack of exercise has a lot to do with that. If you exercise and do regular physical activities, you are going to feel more energized and upbeat and before you know it you will be the life of the party. Energy begets more energy! As far as being the one that everyone wants to converse with, keep up with current events and the news. Even the teen new on nickelodeon sometimes are just things to talk about at a party. And, always read. The more you read the more you will be witty and informed and will be learning new words and how to use them. Books even the silliest books sometimes teach us how to carry on a better conversation with people. I am always impressed with someone who is well read and informed about things. People who don’t read and don’t bother to be well informed are always boring. You need to become more into the scene of things. Always read. Always listen to music. All types of music. You never know who you are going to meet and what kind of music they are going to like. I read at least 1 newspaper a day. Even if I don’t read the whole thing. I read the main ariticles or even every head line in the newspaper and if I find an article that I find interesting I read the whole thing and I have something to discuss with someone just in case I meet someone. I subscribe to Time magazine and they usually sum up the previous weeks news that you might not have heard about on a national level But, if you just spend your days thinking about how you can be more outgoing and social and not doing anything about it, then it’s no good for you. See if you can take vitamins to help you become more active and your depression will go away soon enough. I hope I haven’t bored you to tears with this thing I wrote. I always do this. Sorry! Good luck to you. Just some suggestions for you and your social life and your health. I hope I did not go too far. Sorry again!

There are so many things you can do to bring about the changes you want to see in yourself. Nick had an an excellent and thorough reply. As Gandhi said; “Be the change you want to see …”. I would first check with your doctor. If you are lacking energy and motivation… feeling a little depressed maybe without the clinical symptoms… if you are gaining weight, you might have a thyroid problem… Hypothyroidism will cause all these symptoms. Also, that is the center of the 5th Chakra, and if you are having issues in communication or will power, that that chakra may be closing down which obviously is not good.

1.) List all the good things about yourself.
2.) List the things you want to improve, change etc. List the steps on how you’d achieve it.
3.) Prioritize on which goal to work on first. DOn’t work on everytime all at the same time…One step at a time.

Good luck.

hey, i just saw this and i’ve never posted a reply before…but
don’t feel bad! small changes add up over time…try a 5 or 10 minute
walk outside and write it down that you did it…over a few weeks you’ll
see that you are doing it! find other ways to feel good about yourself..help
a neighbor or volunteer…we all can’t have perfect bodies…oh and something
i am working on…try to reduce stress…spend a few minutes deep breathing
and try and think positive…have a great week!
