By writing America are you thinking of the United States or what part of America are you talking about? North America, Central America, South America and which country in these? If you were thinking of the US, and you were born there, you are a US citizen regardless of the status of your parents.

yes you are considered an american citizen if you are born in america. if you werent born in a hospital, however, and paperwork was not filled out at your birth I imagine you would have to then prove you were born in America to get a social security number and proper paperwork.

Section 1.
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
