where do you live now
so cal.. i know it will be a huge differance from my lifestyle now but im seriously considering it.
yeah I figure once i get a hang of the change i would probably be the same way. lol
i work for a chain restaurant as a sous chef and was offered a head chef position, the money would be decent 60k a year. not much but enough to get by. i know there are a few perks in alaska like no sales tax, state tax, and rebates but overall cost of living is my main topic
yeah finding a few but i think i would need to get some feedback on that also. Just dont want to be in a bad part.
yeah i would have to sign a 2 year contract
then again im use to so cal where its bad everywhere lol couldent be much worse there
yeah my wife is onboard with this move so its all on me now lol
yes the raise would put me at 60k a year all moving expense paid, every bit of the move!
but i have to go. so ty for ur time and anything else you have that could help would be great.
thats why im leaning towards yes on this\
a big change although i will deffenitly miss my 3-4 time a week surfing
i wish i could get more people to respond to this lol
I went to Alaska on a cruise in August. It was awesome. We took the Inside Passage from Ketchican to Whittier, then flew back from Anchorage. People from Whittier call themselves “whidiots” btw. It isn’t just different geographically. The culture is nothing like southern California. There’s a very, VERY independent spirit there, leaning toward self-sufficiency and away from the nanny-state mentality. Also very conservative. It may not be practical for you to visit beforehand, but maybe you could find out more about what living there is like before you commit. I’m a hot-weather person myself, and I found summer in AK to be very chilly. Can’t imagine what it’s like now.
oh that would be great. I am actually going up there dec. 17th-21st to see what its like. I know its a short time but i will be gathering a ton of local knowledge… thanks u guys for all the help and please keep it comming
