A series-parallel circuit consists of two series circuits (A and B) connected in parallel across a 5-V source.

Branch a consists of an R-1 of 2.2 k ohms and an R-2 of 3.3 k ohms. Branch B consists of an R-3 of 1.2 k ohms and an R-4 of 4.7 k ohms.
Could anyone please show me how to work this promblem out?

Well I’m studying electrical engineering so I couldn’t pass up helping you out!
You don’t say what you’re looking for but I assume it’s either the overall resistance or the current.
Ok so consider the two branchs separately first of all. Branch 1 has a resistance of 5.5k ohms (2.2+3.3). Doing the same for branch 2 gives you 5.9 k ohms.
To work out the resistance of both resistors in parallel you use this law.

1/(total resistance) = (1/R1) + (1/R2)

Where R1 is the resistance of the first branch and R2 the resistance of the second.
doing this gives:
0.35131= 1/(total resistance)
This means the total resistance of both resistors in parallel is 1/0.35131.
That gives you 2.8465 k ohms

If you want the current you use ohms law V= I.R
The current, I, is then given by I=V/R
V=5 and R=2.85k so
I= 1.754 mA
