Just be yourself. Don’t worry about it too much just be yourself. If you worry about it then you will be nervous and might do something out of character. Just act normal in work conditions. Talk to your friend about it if you still feel uncomfortable. Tell him how you feel about it. If you are good friends with him be a friend. Don’t ruin a good friendship over it. That is my thoughts on it.

Just go about and do your thing. If he comes over and talks to you, talk with him. You did refer to him as a friend. And as a friend, why would you NOT talk with him at work? Do both of you have conversation with each other after work? If most of your answers are ‘no,’ then he is acquantence and a fellow employee. You need to provide more specific detail about the matter between you two.
