Halloween movie from the 80s maybe early 90s?

I remember growing up, movies for kids were kind of sketchy, (i.e. Little Nemo:Adventures in Slumberland, The Black Cauldron, etc) anyway, I was trying to remember a movie (maybe made by Disney) about some kids are trying to find their friend on Halloween night, but go through a series of obstacles guided by some older guy (i think).. I do know that at some point they are on a roof and are trying to reach their friend and walk on an invisible walkway off the roof.
Anyone have any idea what it is?

I think they do.. I don’t remember watching it all the way through. I was kind of confusing to me as a kid, but I remember the kid they are trying to save is in a wheelchair or is severely ill.I’m glad you remember some of it. I thought I was imagining it

I just wanted to say thank you for this! I have been looking for the name of this movie for years no! I was so little that I couldnt remember very much about it, though the way you described it brought back some clear memories. I remember the movie used to make me more sad then scared.
