But you have to beware that it’s rather risky to by some baby things used, like cribs, because of changes in how they’re made.

I also suggest e bay, alternatively you could try garage sales and things like that posted in the newspaper but they tend to be far and few between in December.

The newspaper in my town won’t advertise cribs.

Have a look for adverts in your local paper, that way you can actually see what you’re buying and make sure it’s in good working order.

Thing with ebay is, most of the sellers WON’T live close to you, and they WILL charge for shipping.

Far better is to look at craigslist.org in your own area. I’ve furnished whole apartments and cottages very inexpensively from this source; dozens if not hundreds of new items come on every day. MANY are FREE—people will give you furniture as long as you can pick it up and take it home.

Good luck. It’s nice of you to help your sister. I wish you both the best.

try craigslist.com, you can find others in your area that may be selling their outgrown baby stuff. Does not cost you anything and you may find good deals.

Craigsist is good, there is also a resale shop called Kid to Kid, they have very strict guidelines for what they will resale, so safety is less of an issue with them. I got a baby monitor there for $8 (regularly $85 at Walmart) and a playpen/bassinet for $40 ($200 at BabysRus).

www.kidtokid.com

They also offer several discounts like military discount, online coupons, etc.

there is a site called www.freecycle.org which you have to be accepted to but i you can get on it you can ask people for baby stuff and its free! sometimes items must be picked up but most are posted but i think you should have a look at it. my friend got nearly everything she needed from it and it saved the unwanting owner throwing it away when things still have uses
