What program do you use for email? It’s possible a file has corrupted and this is why your computer needs the XP disc. XP comes with an email program called Outlook Express.

If the disc is not available to you, you could always go to Microsoft and download their new Live Mail, which is a decent program. It works with XP.

Some versions of Microsoft Office prompt you for the installation disk when you try to apply updates. Also, if you try to access features that you have not installed it may prompt you for the disk.
