Ok I need some help.

I am going to be getting out of the army when I get back from Iraq in 2010. Is it a good time to get out of the army with what is going on with job market?

Well, I don’t mean to express my particular political views here, but having trouble looking for work is a much better scenario than continuing to put your life in danger by remaining with the armed services. I assume you’re talking about the United States, so I’ll speak on the state of employment in this country.

It’s not good right now, but it’s not really astoundingly horrible. If you have some skills, or even some sort of formal education in any field, I don’t think it’s going to be much harder in 2010 than it’s been all your life.

That said, keep an eye on the changes Obama ends up making. He is planning a huge public works program, which means that there will be a lot of work for surveyors, contractors, engineers, and other such trades. Just pay attention - then, when you decide on something, don’t change your mind! What’s dangerous now isn’t trying to find work, it’s trying to change careers in the middle of an economic slump.

Good luck, and best wishes!

I don’t know, you always going to face challenges after “get out of the army” but yes there are jobs out there and if you’re lucky enough to be able to fall back on family or friends if you need to then keep that at the back of your mind.
I know a few people who was in the army and most of them are doing fine right now (at less what I could see from the outside) they are ether living by themselves, with a spouse or girl/boyfriend, or going to school.

I don’t know anything about you or where you live or going to live but the veterans her seem to be doing ok.
hope that help’s?
