My Dell adaptor wouldn’t charge my battery, so I bought a 3rd party universal adaptor (targus 90 watt).

However, Dells specifications won’t allow any other adaptors to charge the battery, are there any types of plugs or any way around this?

you should buy a adapter or battery replacement for you laptop.
