english help: Ranting. - Help.com

Ranting.

Being a perfectionist, I tend to correct people who is wrong about something. I do it in a very nice way.

One of my colleague loves the movie twilight, so, I lend her the book. I have the full collection of the books. She skip the new moon and eclipse and jump to the forth book. Of course she misses some details from the two books,…

I didn’t mind telling her about it and answers her questions BUT when she asks me about it, she keeps on making the pronounciation error. She will say Moon, instead of New Moon which is not that hard to say correctly and she will say “E-LIPS” instead of Eclipse!!!

Arghhhhhh!!!!!!! I’ve corrected her a few times and yet she never cares!

Being a Malaysian, not all of us can speak proper English and I feel like it’s my duty to help those who has poor English. Mine is not that good either but at least I can speak English! I just wonder why some people don’t want to try and make themselves better!!

End of ranting. Thank you very much for reading.

We all have different talents.

It’s not always as easy for one to pronounce things correctly as it is another. But your friend will be good at other things.

It is also a question of priorities. Perhaps hers are different.

What one sees as important another sees as less important… and vice versa.

seriously, i won’t mind being corrected the first time , but if you do it twice to me i’ll probably look to you and say “I DON’T CARE”, if somebody didn’t listened the first time why do you lose your time trying to correct them the second time?

I totally understand how you feel. I’m a perfectionist too, especially about language. I guess we have to accept that most people really just don’t care. Go figure. :)

Well, I guess you guys are right. I don’t meet kind of people all the time. So, I’ll just try and keep it to myself. But I don’t mind people correcting me. That’s one of the way to learn things. :D

you dont sound like much of a perfectionist when you correct people “who is” doing something wrong rather than “who are” doing sometheing wrong… [fellow perfectionist]
