JEPCO STORAGE [EAST RIDGE, TN] SOLD MY MOTHER’S REMAINS!

I don’t know what good it will do, but I am going to pitch an unholy fit in any medium I can find until I get my mother’s ashs back.

My mother was cremated and I kept a small portion of her ashes in a jar to put the rest on the waterfall upon a beautiful mountain she wish to have them put on. I could only save some of her ashes. My brother decided he wanted to keep them and was forced to put the small urn in storage at Jepco in East Ridge, TN [423-954-1360] because he was living with my Grandmother and she didn’t want the ashes there. I didn’t know they were put into storage and was upset when I found this out.

My brother couldn’t pay the storage bill and asked for the return of family photos and the urn, because he heard it was illegal for Jepco to sell that stuff off. My brother didn’t ask for furniture or anything of real material value.

I just called the owner and he claims he wasn’t told anything about it even though I remember the phone call placed saying, “May I have the urn and photos?” The owner asked why I was calling, he discovered I had originally intended to go to the news media since the story has a human interest angle. He said VERY SNIDELY, “What good will that do?” I said, “Well, apparently I’m about to find out,” because he was still playing ‘dumb’ and said he was never told anything, yet somehow claims to still remember information about the unit. He said, still snidely, “Well, Okie dokie..” and hung up on me.

I don’t know how true this is but my brother’s girlfriend said the storage company originally demanded a few hundred dollars before turning the urn over.

So… I now have no idea who has my mother’s ashEs and where they are because Jepco sold them.

That is appalling of them! I would definately ring the newspapers, if nothing else you may find out who bought them. Good luck!

It’s my only hope to bring enough negative attention to the guy to get where he makes a few phone calls or the small chance that someone at the auction saw the urn.

Should be an interesting enough story for them to run. Maybe try getting some legal advice too.

I wouldn’t stop at newspapers! I’d ring the local news station! This is exactly the sort of stuff they want! I’m training to be a journalist and I know I’d snap up the opportunity for that story!! This guy should be exposed! And Tv coverage might increase the possibility of finding your urn!

Not exactly sure how stuff is sold there. Most are sold as a lot, they open it up you look inside and bid on what you see, most of the time you don’t get to look into the boxes, more or less a blind sale and you get what you buy. If it wasn’t in writing then you really don’t have a case. Morally he is in the wrong, legally theres nothing you can do. Remember about 6 years ago Michael Jacksons stuff wound up being sold and he couldn’t get his stuff back either. Hope this helps :-)

I’m upset about the ashes being gone, yes, but I can’t imagine how the person finding them will feel. If I can find a way to contact the lot buyers, that would help, but I don’t think I can get that info without a subpeana. I hav e-mailed the newstation because I thought this was a story they’d want and maybe someone would say they bought some stuff at Jepco. I think news coverage will be my only real hope.

Sue! Sue for punitive damages, compensation, and pain and suffering. Most lawyers would take a case like this and only charge you If they win the case for you.

Most would not take it on that basis. If Michael Jackson couldn’t get his stuff back with the High paid lawyers. Do you think that someone would take it on a commission basis. Not happening. Hope this helps :-)

Jepco mini storage warehouse gave the customer 6 months to remove items in the storage unit with no reply and no charge. Customer never responsed to noticed sent or published aution of the items with no charge to the customer if they came forward to collect all contents of storgae before public auctions. The contract to any storage rental clearly states no payment will result it the sell of items to recover cost of rental.
Jepco mini storage is sorry for this customer’s loss, however, we cannot store items for free and always tries to have complete customer satisfaction. This is our only complaint ever filed.

Now that is funny! Her brother screws up and she blames a company for following through with a legal binding contract! What has this world come to when you don’t take responsibility for your actions. You need to take it up with the brother since he is the one who stored mom’s ashes in a storage facility. Otherwise, stop acting like a 5 year old pitching a fit! Grow up and move on!!!

Jepco mini storage is just like all storage companies. All they care about is
Money, money money!! They have a FLAT $40.00 late fee if you are late on your
locker. They also have a myriad of other fees and charges etc just like a pawn
shop or title loan outfit or a check loan place.

All these type of compnies have the same thing in common, they prey on poor people.
they know **** well that 1/2 the people that store items will have trouble paying the locker rent, alot of them are homeless or almost homeless. So what do
they do? they ADD ON enormous fees snd charges to make it even harder to
pay the unit so they can make a big profit selling the items at auction.
They could care less that a entire persons life is in a 5×10 space!

I am surprised that someone has not been violent with these people!

They really are villians and I hope nobody responds to this by telling us that these poor business people have to make a living and
can’t do things for free blah, blah!
Is that why they add on hundreds in fees?

No,
they do it because they WANT you to default so they can make more money,
free up one of thier precious units and start the process over again.
It is just a building for crying out loud. If apt houses charged as much as they
do by the sq foot your usual rent on a studio would be $2000.00 a month!!

By all means go to the papers, the court, legal aid, picket them up and down the street, whatever you can do and warn others about this ripoff industry
