Anything worth seeing in Charlotte?

I’m considering a trip to a convention in Charlotte, NC from June 30 to July 2, 2006. I’d like to stretch this into a week’s vacation, but I’m not sure Charlotte has enough to do to fill a full week at this time of the year. Any ideas about what is in or near Charlotte that is worth seeing/doing?

So I’m not sure CHarlotte is worth a week, but if you can rent a car and drive down to Charleston in SC that is definitely worth it. Quaint and historic little city, should be really nice in the summer. I saw it in December a couple years ago and thought it was nice even in that chilly weather. Open air markets, nice harbor, a kindof bohemian section downtown with shops and restaurants.
