Weight help: I NEED SOME TIPS OR ADVICE ON HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT. - Help.com

I NEED SOME TIPS OR ADVICE ON HOW TO LOSE WEIGHT.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve gained 5kg which is 11lbs and now I really think that I am on the verge of being overweight. My BMI index is 24.8 which is another 0.1 and I’ll be overweight!!! Gosh…

My problem is, I can’t seem to discipline myself. Whenever there’s food infront of me, I’ll eat. My working environment makes it worse when my boss as well as my colleagues loves to bake cake, or treat the rest of us with delicious food!! usually fast food like McDonald, KFC, Pizza.. and I work at night. So, it’s so not healthy to eat at night but I can’t stop myself!!!

Next week, I’ll try and get my big *** to go and jog and hit the gym. I have a friend who encourage me and said that he’ll be my personal trainer.

i seriously think that it won’t help if I don’t control my food intake as well..

Any suggestion on how to curb my BIG appetite??

Maybe once you start exercising you will not want those types of foods. Have you ate healthy in the past?

There are a couple of things you can do. Try to eat healthier and get more active. Also when your boss or work collagues buy fast ‘bad’ food, either limit yourself or say no completely. If you want to get rid of some stomach fat, try doing some situps… They exercise your stomach muscles. Don’t push yourself either. Work your way up slowly…

Hope this helps =].

Try to only eat at meal times and sometimes a few snacks inbetween. Only eat when your hungry tho if there is food that people are just bringing around and you feel the urge to eat what is out try chewing a piece of gum instead so it feels like you are still eating with everyone else just not getting all the calories that they are. Exercising is also always good :).

I eat whatever I like. Well, maybe I need to say no to all my favourite food!! Eating healthy is never my style and it’s very hard to eat only during meal time. I skipped breakfast because I have to rush to class in the morning, eat lunch. Then, eat dinner..

Sometimes, when i am out with friends, I tend to order food even when I’m not hungry. It’s because of the tempting menu!!! :’(

Chewing Gum is a good idea. What is the best way t increase my metabolism rate? I’ve been lazy lately. I need to lose weight to look good on new year’s eve!!!

I think I’ll buy a very tight dress and I must make sure that I can fit in it by new year’s eve!!

eat whatever you want, just exercise that much more. eat less to not gain weight, exercise to lose weight. thats it, no secret thing involved, no 20 paragraph plan.

even the metabolism, exercise increases it better than anything else, period.

people are always looking for the easy way or the short cut…like the comedian said, if the short cut was really better, it would just be called The Way!

I hope you do, really, its the key to not just temp benefits, but if you start now, you will be one of those 50 year old women that still looks like she is in her late 20’s. Quality of life is the biggest thing here, even if it is hard to imagine a time when every bit of energy counts, and every tiny sickness can lead to a hospital stay.

good luck, have fun, and no fast food, ever1 (well, maybe once a week, but order from the kiddie menu)

exercise, thats all. Most people I know that exercise regularly don’t crave as much junk food after a while, and usually don’t gorge when they do eat.

still eat 3 meals a day at least, just watch what you eat, junk is junk. Trying to live on junk food, or even fast food, is like trying to run a catr on mostly water instead of fuel, or trying to power your computer by setting a couple of batteries on the desk next to it, and shining a flashlight on it.
great, now I am rambling, but point is, the food part is low priority, the exercise part is what will determine your overall health

If impulse control is a problem, you can try to limit your exposure to temptation. Talk to your manager and coworkers. Tell them that you are trying to eat a healthier diet and ask them if they can be supportive by not bringing as much unhealthy food into the workplace. Their most likely response is “Yeah, I should lose a few pounds too. Good idea.”

Another idea is to eat helthy food before you go to work. If you eat something that includes vegetables and complex carbohydrates, you will probably be less tempted to indulge in so much of the junk food.

Denying yourself food makes you hungry and cranky and more likely to feel tired and want a pick-me-up snack. Lots of regular exercise will kick-start your metabolism so you can burn fat.l

The best way to go is to join an exercise group and become friends with the people. I joined a running group and ran 3-4x/week and biked to and from work and lost 90lbs. The key is to work the exercise into your routine.

Also, work your way up. Don’t kill yourself with exercise… make it a continuing, growing challenge so it’s fun and not a punishment for eating too much. Remember that the heartrate to burn fat is lower than the heartrate you would get running fast, etc. Make sure you’re operating in the lower fat-burning range or you can use a lot of effort and just strengthen your heart.

you get full faster that way. also, i know for me, to not associate food with other activities, such as reading, tv or socializing. That, the image of a family watching tv while eating dinner, or a bunch of friends out on the town stopping at Taco Bell at 2 in the morning, sets you up to link food with good times.

Food is just food, you know?

That was my picture when I am 46 kg = 101 pounds!!!!

You are skinny and I think you BMI index also says that you are underweight (17.9). You are tall and I am short so, still, it’s not healthy for me!! Not that I want attention, I just want to fit in my jeans, t-shirt, dresses without all the excessive baggage that is so obvious when I use them!!
Now, I have to squeeze in my jeans!

I wish I can do that. I dont know how to ride a bike, my office is 30 minutes drive from home, and my school is an hour drive from home. Haha. But I’ll try to not eat at night!!

Oh yeah also try to have six small meals a day rather than three big ones. If you do have three big ones try to eat like the following… I learnt this when I lived in Italy and I realised it is a much healthier way to eat rather than how most people do.. Anyway here it it:

Have a small meal for breakfast, maybe some milk and coffee mixed together (Cafe` latte) with a croissant or something. Have a large lunch. I mean large. Eat pasta, meat and fruit. Peaches taste good! For dinner, try to have something small like a sandwich or something. The point of the large lunch is to make you full up until you just have the munchies and then it is dinner time.

I hope this helps too =].

make sure you take account with your ENTIRE body when doing BMI - height matters, breast size matters.
i have a friend at 4′10″ and weighs 140 pounds…but her bra size is 38DDD.

fiber cleanses the system and gets rid of weight! add flax seed to cereal, or just eat kashi or rich in fiber foods.

and, obviously, exercise. be careful though. depending on what you’re looking for is what you should do for exercises. don’t just sit up for a flat tummy, do it for a muscular one. cycle and work your entire stomach - lie on your side and do sit ups, too.

good luck :)

I have a herniated disc in my back that makes it nearly impossible to excercise but Ive lost 20lbs what you need to do is just research the food you eat - I laid off the hamburgers and pizza for pasta salad and Wendy’s chili. But seriously you look good you probably dont need to lose weight.

When I graduated from high school, I was 6′ tall and weighed 298 lbs. I joined Weight Watchers, and learned some really good things. I haven’t weighed more than 200 since 1976. First, look at your plate. The lower half should be vegetables, preferably dark green, but peas can work too but only twice a week for those. Divide the top half in two. The left half is meat (pref chicken, -lean- beef, or fish), the right half is starches like potatoes, pasta, rice. Salt is okay, but never more than covers the palm of your hand one crystal deep. Black pepper is good. Never, ever consume more than 1 tablespoon of fats in a day. Now, while you are eating, LAY YOUR FORK DOWN BETWEEN BITES! Soda, even the diet ones, are for DESSERT. Water with a splash of lemon is better with your meal. Read the portion info on the side of the box! Buy a scale to weigh your portions with. I recommend a digital tabletop one by Chefmate(r).

Now we come to exercise. Go see your doctor first! Don’t ask him about diet, his info will be out-of-date. Ask him about your ability to exercise. I recommend swimming because you burn lots of calories just keeping your body temp at 97.6 while in the water besides what you’ll burn by exercising.

Now for the fun part. You are female, which will make this a little harder, but if you lose 1.5 lbs in SEVEN days, you may have ONE (1) scoop of ice cream. Didn’t lose that much? No ice cream (or whatever your -favorite- sweet thing is).

If you need help, join Weight Watchers. They are so good because -all- the counselors they have have been where you are. They know it works, and they’ll teach you how to work it. No, I don’t work for them. Never did. OH yeah, in between the three meals/day, eat a piece of fruit. Doesn’t matter which kind. That’s six meals a day. You will -NOT- be hungry, trust me on that.

PaDLe, I think having your friend exercise with you is the best first step. I know how you feel, because I just can’t force myself to exercise. I hate exercise, getting sweaty … but having a true friend who’s on your side, ready to help you, is the best way to tackle this. Then, when you enjoy food with your colleagues, you won’t feel so badly because you know the constant exercise will help your body burn off the calories. Just try not to go overboard with any dieting, seriously, because you can’t maintain it. Look at Oprah Winfrey, who, after years of trying to control her weight, finally accepted that she is who she is, and her body is just the way it was meant to be. Don’t fight nature too hard; just keep surrounding yourself with people who will help keep you active and positive. Good luck!

That will only cause you to not only gain the weight back quick but you could gain more than you weighed before dieting and exercising. Once you get use to your healthy lifestyle it wont be as hard. You might even find the foods you use to eat disgusting. I rather be healthy then cheat my way there because you feel good and look good at the same time.

Oh man I have the SAME problems. It’s very hard, especially this time of year to curb appetite.

One thing that helps me is water. Always have a BIG bottle of water with you, and drink plenty of it. ESPECIALLY when you’re eating. It helps fill your stomach so you eat less.

Also chew gum ti help prevent cravings for snacks. And keep healthy snacks around to help with the need to munch. Like sunflower seeds or non fat baked crackers.

Its not easy, but once you get out of the habit, it gets easier and easier.

Help me with: Hey all

Sit ups and push ups during TV commercials. That’s what I do. >_> It helps a little.

Oh, also; working out with weights boosts your metabolism, so you burn more calories when resting. :)

Best of luck”!!

i have a very simple tip for you, coz this one works for me. In the morning before u do all your tasks, Drink hot lemon juice with a little sugar and in evening before you sleep. Eat lots of healthy foods too and lower your comsume of carbohydrates. Eat more vegetables and fruits.

well since you work at night and you say theres nothing healthy to eat then, why dont you bring some fruit with you? like apples and bananas? they taste good and i hear there good for you, way better then and icky cake thats makeing yu unhappy. when you see something that you wanna eat but know that you shouldnt tell your self bad things lol that sounds silly but it works for me like if i see a hugggeeee greasy cheesesteak ill tell my self “dont you dare eat that, you see that huge lady/man over there? if you eat that there going to turn into that and then mom n dad are going to cut you off the monet train”
i know you can lose the weight if you relle buckel down n set you mind to it! good luck! ;D

then why did you ask to begin with if you already knew the answer. Advise or tips as you asked put your workout cloths on, get in your car then drive to the gym, work out for and hour or so repeat as needed. Thats pretty simple eh?
