failure help: I am unable to check for updates for any of my antivirus software. - Help.com

I am unable to check for updates for any of my antivirus software.

I have Windows XP SP3. I have installed the following antivirus progs. AVG Free Edition; Spybot S&D, SuperAntispyware Free edition; Malwarebytes Free Edition. They will scan, but just recently, when I try to run “check for updates” none of these programmes can do it. I get the following message:”The update server connection failed, no further information is available”.

In addition, I have found I can’t access any of their homepage sites through the internet, get the usual “server connection failed” message. Obviously something on here is blocking but I haven’t the first clue how to find out what it is and how to stop it. I am not a highly technical person, so any replies need to detail to me in easy to understand language as I don’t “speak the lingo” and won’t understand what to do!!!!!

Did you read the directions on how to use those programs. mailwarebytes removes some of the functional features of your web browser. So heres what you do Uninstall sp3, super-anti spy and mailwarebytes then reboot. Download CCleaner and use the the registry cleaner feature, reboot and see if you cannot update avg and spybot if you can then read the directions on installing and using those three programs that you removed. Hope this helps :-)
