Tracking down family

Hi all, My mother just got a Xmas letter from second cousin in the UK
Unfortunately they haven’t left an email address.
I am trying to see if any of my cousins are on facebook.

I don’t know much about the UK, and how its geography…

Is Dorset a county?
Do UK users of facebook have networks for different counties.
Does facebook have the UK as a network?

And if Dorset isn’t a county, what county is it in?

Thanks everyone :D

You might consider hiring a private investigator to find them. You may even get some “dirt” on them in the process that you can use at the next family reunion.

We know where they are.
The letter has a return address.
It has photos of my cousins and my dad’s uncle.

They look as they did when I met them years ago, only older.
They are in the UK, I am in Australia, we get a letter from them every year!

Its not some scam…
I would just like to hear from them more than once a year!

Why is it people refuse to type with correct grammer and punctuation… It is immensly annoying, not to mention hard to read and it makes certain people ask the question, ‘Can they even speak english?’

Sorry to but into your post Dougie. I hope you find them! Have you got a phone number or something?

Yes I intend to do that! Wolves…
I just want to know if there is a quicker way of finding them…
As in, I can find them on facebook today!
That would be great… I’ve tracked down most of my family I don’t see in Australia on facebook.

Yes Mez, there is a phone number here.
I may ring them after Xmas.

If mother allows me to make an international call that is ;)

Its probably 3am in the UK right now…
So I might do a facebook search in the mean time :D

If you have a first and last name, you should be able to find them on Facebook. I found someone from here’s Facebook through a google search of their first and last name.

No Mez I don’t.
Unfortunately for this perfect confluence of events…
The answer is sadly no.

I never listened to John Howard.

Dougie, try www.192.com. You can get all kinds of info on there. Not sure about Facebook/Myspace though.

Dorset is a county in England. It’s on the south coast, to the west of Bournemouth.
Try going to Google maps and searching for Dorset UK.

And, no..I’ve never been that far south in England. Been to Stonehenge though… it’s about 30 miles to the NE.

Trivia…(just found out myself) Did you know Stonehenge has a telephone number??
Those Druids, I tell ya!

Thanks guys…
I thought it was a county,
Because there’s a street address on the letter,
Followed by a ’suburb’
Followed by what would appear to be a county. which is Dorset!

Ok… I’m going to check that stuff out! :D

I can get in touch.
But what I should explain is that the letter came from my second cousin who was not born the last time my Dad’s cousin visited.
He has never met me.

It is 3am in the UK right now… or thereabouts.
I just wanted to locate them on facebook today if possible, without having to wait a couple of months to get a return letter, or make expensive phone calls which we can’t really afford.

There are some big social networking sites (like facebook) more populated by people in that particular area of the world. There’s actually a couple really big ones but I can’t quite remember the names.

This 102.com thing is a crock!
It claims to be a really good website, yet you have to pay to use it!
OMG… I’m so sick of doing web searches for people, and sites claiming to be so good they want money!

That makes it a BAD website if you ask me!
*frustrated sigh

Campbell of Breadalbane here…mixed with a liberal dose of Cameron and Ross!

its looks like i’m a bit late for this post…

but Dorset is a county, its in the south west. If you want to try to find your family you should write back. Facebook probably wont work, you can only find those who are subscribed and if your relatives are not subscribed then you won’t be able to find them… but you could try friends reunited, its a UK based site where you can search for relatives/friends and even make your own family tree. I’d give it a try if i were you but not all of of it is free so there are certain things you cant do but you will definatly be able to search for people and message them…

But i know Dorset quite well, my family often go there for our spring holidays so i may recognise part of the address. How that would help i’ve no idea, your best bet is to write back, it wont take that long…
