Are you being offered the chance to purchase some sort of online business? Odds are it’s a scam. I say this because $3,000 is a pretty cheap price for a viable business with clients in place. If it’s not a scam, then the price would seem to indicate that you wouldn’t make much income from the business.

What do you mean by “computer tech”? Do you do computer repair? Programming? Tech-support?

It is a small company in Mount Vernon the owner wants to retire and is a friend of mind with two contracts that I used to help him with when it was upgrade time. The money is to pay 2 months rent until I get fimilar with the day to day routine then I can start solicating more contracts.

Contact an attorney about purchasing this business. You need a professional to evaluate any agreement for the business to change hands, and put in writing any agreement about the payment of this money. Do not give the business owner any money until you get advice from an attorney.
