I had acne and when I went to see a Doctor, he gave me a prescription for some tablets that helped cure acne. They really do work. If your dermatologist doesn’t give you any medication to take orally, he/she may give you some cream.

I do seriously recommend that you see one.

I can’t remember the name of the medication, but I know it wasn’t Benzoyl. The acne medication does help reduce the irritation.

The stuff you are thinking of is in only a few of the prescription acne medicines (and most of the over the counter ones). There are a lot of other treatments, from dietary changes to birth control pills (for females). A good dermatologist will first try to help you find non-pharmaceutical ways to manage your acne, and then if it doesn’t work they can help you find the right prescription treatment.
