password help: PLEASE HELP.

PLEASE HELP.

ive messed up netgear!(:
right, i got a ipod touch yesterday but i couldnt remember the password for my wireless netgear(WPN111)
anyway, i couldnt remember the password so i went to “the devices webpage” to see if i could get the password from there, i searched 192.168.0.1 in an internet explorer and it asked for my password and username,i used USERNAME:admin and PASSWORD:password (these were on the bottom of the wireless router). so i got in and messed about looking for the password but the password was in little dots an i couldnt get it so i decided i would try changing the password, not thinking of the conciquences. i changed the password to different things because it didn’t work several times, then the internet stopped working and i was chucked of the netgear page.

ive trried everything and i cant get it working , please help,
NOTE:there is another laptop in the house wich uses netgear also, it has not been effected(the laptop im on now)
IM also using windows vista,

Just reset the router back to default and then use the setup wizard. This time wright the password down on a piece of tape and stick it to the bottom of the router so you will remember it. Hope this helps :-)

ive tried re-installing it but I FOLLOW THE INSTructions an then it tells me to shutdown the computer and insert the WPN111wireless usb adapter and re-start the computer.i do that , it says it installs and then tells me remove the hardware,
the setup guide tells me that a window will pop-up about the instalation of the WPN111 an i have to select my language then follow the instructions
but it does’t pop-up!
this may have something to do with wen i try to open the netgear WPN111 smart wizard it opens for a split second an then closes itsself aswell,

note:when i uninstalled netgear, the smart wizard remained on the desktop screen and when i tried to delete it it said that the file could not be found, you cant move it too the recyling bin by draging it either

To get it off you PC just go into safe mode then delete it there. You also have to reset the router by pressing the little button on the back of the router with a small pin that should reset it to the default setting. then all you have to do is follow the directions on setting up your router. It will ask you if you want to save the settings click yes and put them on a flash drive so the next device that you want to connect to it, you will already have the settings.

sorry, how do you get onto safe mode?
and does that mean i will have to change anything on the wireless working laptop?

To get into safe mode press F8 repeatedly after rebooting then select safe mode. Yes what you will be doing is resetting the router and laptop. Find the directions for it there easy to follow then this time make sure that you wright down the password and login name. Should take you about 5 minuets to do this because you will need to reboot one time during the process.

rebooting is the same as restarting. After the pc restarts just start pressing F8 then a new screen will appear scroll to the top and select safe mode it will take a few seconds then you will be asked to login to your account, do that then go and remove the netgear program after that then reboot. Now login again in regular mode and it should start looking for the router follow the directions on setting up the router and then your done.

Did you shut it off? If it didnt work you should of went back to the login screen.

Yes try it again. As the screen starts comming back on but before your login thats where the safe mode will be found. Remember dont hold the button just keep tapping it untill you get there.
