At the age of 17 if you had all those answers I would wonder about you? Maybe you do need some time off, but never neglect uni just to say you traveled. Set a goal at years end to travel during the whole of the break, but start school first and work toward the dream..

17! Your life is just beginning! Do you have the means to travel and would your parents let you? Sometimes is good to get away but you have to be careful. Make sure that whatever you leave behind might still be here when you get back. Don’t go in haste and don’t go just for the sake of leaving. Make a plan. Make a schedule and then flap your wings to see where they take you. Talk to your parents and explain to them what you feel. It may not be as convincing as it is to you for your need to travel and be on your own for a while but it won’t hurt to try.

I don’t think travel is really a possibility for me but i feel its what i need. I suppose i need a way to figure out who i really am without disruptin my everyday life. I just want to leave.

Do you have relatives in another part of the country where you can go visit for a while or is that not an option?

I’ve been in a similar situation. I started college right after high school, and it was okay but I wasn’t enjoying it. I felt like i was just kind of coasting along, but not going where i really needed to be going.

Maybe you could find some quiet place to go and just relax for an hour or so every day. Think about the things that you enjoy, what excites you, etc. You don’t have to follow the same path everyone else follows.
