free help: My boyfriend took off with my car, got into a high speed chase and completely totaled my car. - Help.com

My boyfriend took off with my car, got into a high speed chase and completely totaled my car.

I’m a single mother of two, unemployed right now and I only had basic liability coverage on the car. I need new car…and new boyfriend but that’s not the first thing on my list right now. Is there any help out there for someone like me? Or is Oprah the only one who gives away free cars? HELP!

Ditch the boy, and start catching the bus until you can afford a new car!

High speed chase, what an idiot. I hope your insurance pays for all the damage.

Good luck getting a new car:)

Sue him. Depending on how much your car was worth you can probably take him to small claims court for free if you didn’t give him permission to drive your vehicle. If you did you’re screwed.

i don’t know where you are, but in california (and probably further?) there’s a thing called ‘the legal grind’, think; starbucks meets law school, it ain’t free, but it’s **** cheap. also sometimes you can find help with legal advice from individuals on the retired professional website, i forget what it’s called, but it’s some thing like that. NEXT- you can start referring to him as your EX boyfriend, you keep a reckless man like that in your life and your declaring that his crisis oriented life takes precedence over the stability that you can offer your children. don’t date till your back on feet.

Thanks to you all for the advice. He’s very much an EX now, who happens to be sitting in prison for his decisions. I’m driving a vehicle and saving for one I actually want. Life is good.
