Copyright trouble…

My friend and I are writing a screenplay. In it we might use the exact from Shakespeare’s works. Is this copyright infringement? Do we need to obtain rights to use his work in our film or do those not exist?

lol i dont think shakespear will mind he’s been dead a few 100 years.
I think after 50 years things go public domain. but you best google and check it.

i usually just let my lawyers deal with things that might be a bit iffy for a project

As long as your not making money off of it then it’s ‘fair use’ to use copyrighted material.
