Wellllll it it quicker to type “www” then “world wide web.” They were probably thinking along those lines.

You could pronounce it WoWoW — only 2 syllables.

Say “dub, dub, dub” instead of “double u” or something

People tend to say, “the net” rather than “the w w w”.

now its just become assumed when you write a URL unless said otherwise in my opinion/experience watever but that is interesting that sayin it is longer but then who says that regularly

or you could just say world wide web when you say it

But I do see your point, Mez, it’s all wrong from the start, maybe if you email the guy in charge he’ll fix it.

You could always go back in time and fix it. Well, not literally, but you could think it.

The alphabet might be a little easier to use with only 25 letters. Then it’s divisible into 100, the square of 5, and just overall convenient. “www” does seem somewhat redundant (it’s not needed in ‘help.com’), so perhaps a petition to abolish the ‘w’ would be the way to go.

Also so many questions wouldn’t need to be asked if you can’t do who, what, why, or where. So much easier!

I just got on here and didn’t read all the replies, but I do agree that www is kind of silly…especially since it’s not even all that necessary anymore. The only thing that I can think of is that it has….ummmmm…..visual appeal?????
