This may be a stupid question but, when doctors recommend 8 glasses of water a day, are tea and other beverages included?

Definitely nothing with caffeine (which makes you lose water)
i don’t see why it wouldnt. besides soda, maybe some unsweetened tea or flavored water, or something that doesn’t have a lot of fat, calories or sugars.
Water is healthier than ‘other beverages’ so that is why water. Stick with water…
When you drink a soda or tea, doesn’t your body still utilize the water in it despite the caffeine or sugar?
Water can be bland, but think of your health… Maybe you can treat yourself to something different as a reward but not too much!
8 glasses of water are recommended b/c water is a “purifier…” and it flushes out your system…esp since our bodies are made up of so much water. Water flushes things out and makes your cells healthier. It is different than drinking other things because other beverages have so many additives that they are not purifiers.
Just add some fresh lemon or lime juice to the water. Tastes great and you still get all the benefits.
well, i disagree with these others. yes, other beverages are not as good as water, but the 8 glasses of water concept is probably about hydration. other drinks will do most of the trick (after all, they do contain water).
the main problem is that if you tried to drink that much soda or juice everyday, it would be terrible for you. both of those have massive amounts of sugar. that would be like filling up the gas tank of a car with sewage and trying to drive it. bad idea.
just mix it up. drink water, milk, tea, and juice. but do try to get used to drinking water regularly.
Also, the more you drink water, the more you will develop a “taste” for it
I heard somewhere that they changed that you only need to drink as much as you’re thirsty for.
Personally, I drink juice alot or my blood sugar drops like a rock.

Oh wiat, now I get it. XP. No, then he ignores you, AND doesn’t give you a cookie!
Bugger. I would say that other word with a ‘d’, an ‘a’, a ‘m’ and a ‘n’ but it s swear… Fine, look I will eat it. *Snatches cookie, bites it and dies* I was wrong…
Nothing. We can multi-task and all about different conversations…
Haha, yep. Aww I feel bad my mum as at the table by herself eating. I will go sit with her. I will be back in 5 minutes… ok?

This is my idea exactly. For example if I eat a fruit and drink water. Then the water in my stomach is now fruit water. In other words everything is all mixed up, so why is water needed. Why not other beverages that have water in them?
They say you don’t need 8 glasses a day, it’s only drink however much YOU feel thirsty for. So, I don’t drink 8 glasses of juice, and I almost never drink pop. And if I don’t drink juice, I’ll end up eating tons of sugar from candy or something because my blood sugar crashes and I’ll pass out.
