A good counselor might be helpful for you. They can help trace what is triggering your acute sense of depression, and they can provide suggestions for techniques that might help you get over it. You sound uncertain about whether this is important enough to merit seeking help, but mental health is like physical health — addressing small problems prevents bigger ones.

Another suggestion that you can try before even talking to a counselor… if you talk to any decent counselor one of the first things they will ask you to do is to take notice of what is happening right before you feel this way, and if you can, to write down some information each time you feel this way. Typically it is helpful to write down what is happening just before you feel this way, what emotions you experience (such as anger, sadness, remorse, regret, fear, stress, helplessness, or whatever else you might experience in that ten minutes), and what thoughts you have during that time. This will help them identify the series of events that is triggering your brief but intense episodes, and provide insight into what you can do to alleviate or eliminate what you are going through.
