Tampering with a filter on a school computer system is not a good idea. The school computer may have legal and security reasons for maintaining certain filters. You might think removing a filter is about as serious as messing with the pre-set radio stations on a friend’s car sterio. Either way, neither the school computer or that car sterio belongs to you. Don’t mess with the settings on stuff that isn’t personally yours.

Additionally, if the school has their wits about the, the filter isn’t happening on the coputer you are at — it’s happening on a school wide basis through some sort of proxy server that you can’t get at anyway.

Your myspace addiction will simply have to wait till you get home.

Do not mess with other peoples computers… find go arounds. You know how when you search google it returns caches? well that is a save picture like item of a site. they cant block that without blocking google. Nice huh. problems are that you cant use jscript and following links is difficult. you have to find out were the link is pointed, search that and get that cache for every link you want to follow on a blocked sight. Hey, dont do anything bad with this information ok.

There is always a way around filtering/blocking software.

However, by disabling it you run the risk of being suspended off your school’s network. I mean, sure, getting to install and play network games or getting to look at stuff you really shouldn’t on the internet at school SEEMS like a good idea. However, when you compare that to the idea of not being able to do anything on any school computer when you get caught, it doesn’t.

Some schools will even go as far to contact the police about the matter.
